Julie Cai

Doctor of Chinese Medicine (BTCM), Physiotherapist (BPhty) & Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapist (Applied MLD)

I am a fully qualified and registered Acupuncturist and Chinese Medicine Practitioner with the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia (CMBA) and AHPRA.

Before I became a Chinese Medicine Practitioner, I had been a registered Physiotherapist and lymphatic therapist with an integrative approach. I blended conventional physiotherapy, lymphatic drainage, acupuncture, craniosacral therapy and myofascial release to holistically treat the body.

The reason I studied many different approaches was because I found that conventional Physiotherapy was not always able to treat the person as a whole. For example, I found that nervous system dysregulation, poor lymphatic and blood circulation and suppressed emotions were crucial aspects of the way a lot of my patients presented. And that conventional Physiotherapy was not always enough.

At the same time, I was going through my own health issues. I had seen multiple conventional doctors & alternative health practitioners. Both sides had advantages and disadvantages, but they were able to afford me a holistic view of my body and help me recover.

In the end, after my own personal experience and working with patients, I found Chinese Medicine to be the modality that incorporated all these different systems of the body into one framework. Important systems in the body like the fascia network, lymphatic and nervous system were already considered and treated within the Chinese medicine system - but they did not use the same biomedical language we use today.

From starting off as a Physiotherapist and now working as a registered Chinese medicine practitioner, I have a unique perspective in both biomedical and holistic frameworks that can help restore your body’s own self-healing capability.

My life’s purpose is to help realign your body, so that you can be the highest version of yourself & live to your fullest potential.
